Hey! Look at this! There is another blog post in the same month! Well, this is just an update on some of the things that I have been doing the last couple of weeks.
James and I went to a wedding in the Milwaukee area, where I was able to meet his parents which went surprisingly well. His mom and dad were both extremely nice and welcoming to me considering they are still working on coming to terms with James being gay.
On the way to the wedding, James took me to mini golf which was really fun! It was at a course that had two options: California and Wisconsin. Sorry California, but the Wisconsin side looked more fun, so we played that. I beat James, but not by much. Read more “Wedding and Valley Fair”
Well, it has been a long time since I have posted an update on here, so I thought that I would take this time to do that now.
First off, today the Supreme Court of the United States (or SCOTUS) ruled that DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) and Prop 8 were unconstitutional. This is awesome news if you are someone in the LGBT community. This is particularly important for me as there is someone who down the road I would like to marry and is also a male. In parts 1and 2, I told the epic tale of how Teresa, Beth and I went to New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC. This, the third and final installment, I will finish up that trip, talk about our trip to Springfield, IL to see Lincoln’s Tomb and our latest trip to Saint Louis, MO.
So when we left Washington DC and Arlington National Cemetery, we headed out and followed the GPS to take us to Gettysburg! After a few hours (we had left Washington, DC in the late evening), we arrived in Gettysburg in the early night. We stopped at a gift shop there and purchased a couple of things. I got Kohl an Abraham Lincoln picture and I picked up a confederate flag and a “Betsy Ross” flag (the one with the circle of 13 stars). The confederate flag is constantly getting me in awkward situations, but that is another blog post. Read more “Part 3 of 3 explaining the last year!”
Again! Well, this time I updated to WordPress 3.0 and with that I changed themes and then changed themes again. I like this one and I have it all configured to work ok at the moment. I hope to add more to this site again (other than twitter updates). Eventually, when I have more time and I am not tired, I will make a post on how Minneapolis Pride was, my iPhone 4 experience and trying to swap roommates and/or move out.
I am not sure how this week is going to go. I am excited because I am only working like 28 hours at ShopKo this week, which will give me time to work for Sonic.net (which pays more per hour). Also, it looks like on Thursday Mindy might come over and we can watch the most ever Sci-Fi stuff. I am happy about that.
Tomorrow is still up in the air. I am going to the cities again to pick up Beth and Matt and this time Kohl is coming with me. I would rather go alone and spend some quality time with Jared, but I don’t think that is going to happen. I suppose I will show Kohl around (what little I do know about the cities) and just sight see. I also need to go back to the Cheesecake Factory and pick up my scarf that I left on Friday when I was there with Jared.
Beth and Matt don’t arrive until 10PM tomorrow and it looks like it may be later because there is supposed to be a storm heading this way that will start tonight and go on for the next week. I am not looking forward to driving in that again!
Well, I need to go to work now, hopefully that will go well today.
