Blogging and Updates

Hey, look at that! I’m updating my blog again and it hasn’t been forever! Someone that I just recently pointed to my site for information that I posted previously thought it was cool that I had this site where I posted a lot of stuff about my life. I have to agree that I do like looking back on things that I have posted here to see how I was like and what I was thinking at the time.

It got me thinking of what started this all back in October, 2002. At the time, I had just met Beth while working at the theatre and she turned me on to LiveJournal. In fact, a lot of this blog is from back in the day when I was posting frequently on LiveJournal. I would like to get back to posting as frequently as I did back then.

I was just sitting here in my room looking at Twitter and read a post from someone that I follow that was about exit signs at Disneyland. This got me thinking about Disneyland and how much has changed ever since the last time that I was there back in July, 2007. That means that it has been 3 years, 6 months and 16 days since I was there last. That is a long time for me not to have gone to Disneyland.

$385 Until Oct 15th!

So, I finally finished work after having almost no sleep (again) due to a massive headache that came on last night after working on this site.  Luckily, I made it in and everything worked out.

In other news, I calculated all my bills and paychecks from now until the paycheck after my trip to New York and it looks like I will have $385 to live off of until October 15th!  This is taking into account the rent ($253), credit card bills ($100), Kwik Trip Card ($80) and power, internet TV and cell phone ($192).  These are per month prices!  I only take home like $500/payday every 2 weeks, so this is going to be a stretch.  Also note that I am putting another $250 in my savings for the trip, bringing me to $550 total for gas, rental car, food, etc.

I hope that I can save some of that money from New York to spend on bills/food when I get back.  We will see.  Then I need to start saving for my BIG Disneyland trip in May, 2010 which will cost around $1,000 plus, which breaks down to:
275/person for plane tickets (may vary)
194/person for park tickets
100/person for hotel
569/person total for travel, sleep and tickets
400/person spending money (food, souvenirs, etc)
969/person total total for everything (if pricing doesn’t change)

This means that I need to save $85 per paycheck from November to April to make this work.  It is going to be hard!  I hope that it will all work out (but I’m sure it will like it always seems to).

An ex-Jack Sparrow spills on life at the Magic Kingdom

Like everyone, I grew up going to Disneyland. Even as an adult I loved it there and went at least once a month. I was an annual pass holder, though not like the freaky ones you may have heard of. I’d see the park’s characters and think, “It’d be so cool to work here.” But there was never a character I really wanted to play. I had a role on the television show Veronica Mars and was working at Coco’s when a friend told me Disneyland was casting a Jack Sparrow character. I had already played Jack as a hobby at San Diego’s Comic-Con and the Renaissance Faire.

T-Minus 2 Days and counting.

Ok, so exactly 48 hours from now, we will be making final preparations to leave for Disneyland. I am super excited. So here is my agenda from now until then:

  • Finish my last hour and 10 minutes of work
  • Take Jackie for a walk
  • Go home and watch the last 1/2 hour of the Modern Marvels episode that I was watching.
  • Probably watch some more TV until I get tired

  • Wake up and get ready for work
  • Go to work and attend the tech meeting
  • Go home after the meeting and try to break a DSL modem
  • Come back to work after lunch and take calls
  • Get off work and walk the dog
  • Watch some TV and try to stay awake as late as humanly possible

  • Wake up and do Laundry
  • Head over to Laura’s and get both vehicles packed and ready to go
  • Get the kids ready to go
  • Make sure that both vehicles are gassed up and ready to head out
  • Make sure that everyone makes it to my house by 7PM for dinner
  • Eat dinner and entertain everyone until approx 10 or 10:30

  • Drive all night to Disneyland
  • Get in line to enter the park
  • RUN to Finding Nemo and get in line
  • Eat breakfast

Some variety in my calls would be nice. 100% relcap on the downstream x a lot. No more, please! I can’t wait to go and check out the iPhone at some point. My schedule next week is completely odd, but that is OK, because Disneyland is the week after that! I can’t wait!
