Sonic.net has the best customers!

I sent some information to a customer about checking for interference on his line which includes welding equipment and got the following reply:

“it’s possible that my next door neighbor has secretly taken up arc welding in his living room next door, but then, now that I think about it, one of the failures happened when he was at his church giving a sermon, so I don’t think that’s it, either… (grin).”

Love it!

Feeling MUCH better

Well, after having the last few days to rest, I am feeling MUCH better than I have felt in the last few weeks. The time off of work and rest (mostly sleeping in and staying in bed) did wonders for me. I also spent the time cleaning up some files on my computer, organizing music in my iTunes to work better with syncing on my iPhone.

Beth is away visiting her dad in Spokane Washington and she will be back after the weekend. Kohl went to donate plasma and both times that he went it has turned out to be troublesome. The first day he almost passed out because of the guy next to him bleeding all over the place. The second time it was an issue because he wasn’t well enough hydrated. He will be more hydrated next time he goes so he can complete a donation.

Working while I’m sick

Well, I am not feeling well for like the third day in a row, but I have to go to work to run the front end tonight. I want to stay home in bed and rest so I can work for Sonic.net tomorrow, but I am having this feeling that may not happen as when I go to work, I come home and can hardly talk and 99% of my job at Sonic.net is talking. We will see how it goes tonight and see if I have to call and tell Sonic.net that I can’t work, which sucks because I get WAY more money for Sonic.net than I do for ShopKo, but I am more crucial to ShopKo because I am the only one available to close the front end down tonight.

Oh, well.

Changes

Well, I have spent the last few days moving my site back to Sonic.net. Gee, it has had such a wild ride. It has gone from LiveJournal to Sonic.net to my own server then to WordPress.com and now back to Sonic.net. The reasons that I moved back to Sonic.net were pretty simple really. First, while WordPress.com was WAY faster than my old machine and auto-updated, it was not very customizable (at least not as much customization as I wanted). Second, Sonic.net updated all of the member tools so you can do your own DNS edits, installed a one-click installer for WordPress with auto-updates and the best part – I get it for free as a Sonic.net employee.

Tech Support?

Who does technical support call when they need technical support? I dunno either since it was supposed to be my first day back on the phones with Sonic.net and I can’t even get into the phone queue! Kavan is trying to help me to no avail. I don’t know why it isn’t working! Oh, well.

In other news; Chris is back! I am so happy! I thought that he wasn’t going to be back until tomorrow (Tue), but he came back yesterday. I got to go and see him last night and it was a lot of fun. Man, I missed him. Well, back to work for me…..

Site Changes

I am probably going to discontinue my server colocated at Sonic.net this summer, so I have moved this domain over to WordPress.com and if it works out, I will move my other domains as well like randommexican.com, earslaidback.com and usepencil.com as well. So the site may look a little different, but it should be a LOT faster than the old server. I am also in the process of moving all of my e-mail over from Fastmail to gmail and that is taking some time. Well, it is 1:50 AM, I should get some sleep while my e-mail copies over.

Oh, and if you created a user account on my old site, I will be moving all those over to this site, but haven’t done so yet.

She knew it all along!

Wow, so I almost had an issue with money recently. I got all the money for all the bills from my mom and Kohl, and then I went and wrote the rent check and water bill check and then spent the rest. Thank god for the tax rebate check! So I got that and my pay check and went online and paid all the bills and still have some money left over!

In other news, I have been getting more hours at Shopko and a raise at Sonic.net. I have been working more and more for Sonic.net in the last couple of weeks and I forgot how much I liked it! I have only logged like 6 hours last paycheck and already logged 6.5 hours this week for the next two week pay period. At this rate, I should have like 12-15 hours for this check, which is pretty good!

Also, I FINALLY found “Fazoli Boy” online and am chatting with him over text and IM. His real name is Chris and he seems pretty cool. He IS gay like I thought! There was a time where I wasn’t sure and didn’t want to look like a douche and ask. Then, tonight, I find out that after months of speculation about this guy, Whitney knew him all along! Damn it! I guess I should just ask around more. He might be coming to my party on the 30th like everyone else should do!

That was the other exciting thing to happen – Beth and I chose a date for the “Spring Fling” – May 30th (a Friday) when all the schools should be out and it is on a weekend so that should help. The only thing that may put a wrench into the works is that Shopko is having inventory on June 3rd and they are starting to deny time off to people. Oh, well, it will probably work out like it always does. I hope everyone can come. Well, I want to get dressed for bed and watch some TV, so this will have to do for an update tonight.

Garage Life

So, I finally decided to do what I have been wanting to do for a while now – make a garage room! So, I have spent the last 5-6 days doing that. It was a little hard at first considering that I was sick for 2 of the days, had work and other stuff to do as well. But, I am happy to say that I have completed it as much as it will be completed until finances work out a little better (and before Winter ’08 comes).

Doing this did a number of things; first, it made it so Kohl and I had our own separate space which will help in the long run I am certain. Second, it made it so I have a LOT more room. I love having a lot of room and space. Third, it made it so I can be a lazy ass and not have to go up stairs for shit. It also allows me to have “the biggest window in the house” (the garage door) to enjoy the nice weather (when it comes around again), the thunderstorms (that was cool) and the rain (which I have missed).

Before winter arrives (hell, before summer gets into full swing), I will have to build an insulated wall between me and the garage door. There is just too much air that comes through to make it affordable to heat and air condition the room.

Over the last couple of days off, I have caught up on a few things that I had been wanting to do for a while now. First, work for Sonic.net. I have not logged any hours with them for going on two months at this point, and even by my standards, that sucks! Then, I got Photoshop CS3 running on my computer again finally! I was having some strange issue with it not wanting to activate and run correctly. Some Googling and 2 hours later, it was working!

On the personal front, I decided that I want to say single again for a while. Steve was not too happy to hear about this and I don’t really blame him, but like I told him – you have to do what you think is best for you and the rest will fall into place when/if it was meant to.

Kohl and I took Beth to the airport on Wednesday and I spoke with her today and it looks like she is done picking up most of the stuff for her wedding now and she shouldn’t have to make anymore trips to California for a while (THANK GOD!). Now, I just have to wait for her to get back and we can go to Rochester and pick out what I am going to have to wear for her wedding.

Well, I am not sure what else I want to write here at the moment, but I am sure that I will take some more time to update this site as I have time (which I hope to have more of here in the next couple of months).

Leaving the office

Well, there are only 7 more hours that I will be in the office. 5 hours actually on the phones, 1 hour in a meeting and 1 hour for lunch. In the end, it will probably turn out to be 3.5 hours on the phone, 1 hour in the meeting and 1 hour for lunch. I have to meet with Jen (the Office Manager) to get some paperwork filled out so I can work in Wisconsin with Sonic.net.

I finally got all the VPN stuff working for Sonic.net so I can work remotely. It will be fun to do tickets from home and/or the library in Wisconsin.

I will miss working with all the good folks in the office here at Sonic.net. I liked giving Kavan shit over my cube wall, yelling yer mom jokes at Ryan and the all around tom foolery of working next to Kim, Jasper and John F. on the weekends. There are a lot of memories with the folks at Sonic.net, so I will miss them (as well as the Christmas Party and Birthday picnic in the summer time). Oh, well I need to move on and do what is best for me and my family.

It will be much easier to get a job and pay the bills in Wisconsin as well as move into my own place in a year or so that it would EVER be here in Santa Rosa – or ANYWHERE in California. I will get to see the country on the way there, which is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. It will be a long drive (longer if it is raining, snowing or extremely windy), but I think this will be a great experience in the end and I look forward to starting my new life in Onalaska.

T-Minus 10 Days

Well, with only 10 days left before the “big move” Laura, Charise and I went to San Francisco yesterday. We had fun. We went to the Metreon, Old Navy, the Apple Store, Union Square, the Castro, the Embarcadero and Twin Peaks. We had a really good time. We ate at Harveys where I had this really good Ranch Wrap thing and the best salad that I have had in recent memory. I then proceeded to be a fat ass and go to Osaka Sushi and have some sushi.

I was going to post a bunch of pics here, but instead, I will just link you to the Flickr group: http://flickr.com/photos/mythgard/sets/72157602496715193/

In other news, tomorrow is my last day in the office at Sonic.net and the LAST DAY taking first tier support calls! I am SO happy about that! I will just have to do what we call new user callbacks which are tickets that get generated when a new account is opened so we can give them a call and make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Unfortunately, so many telemarketers have muddied the water that most of the time people think that we are trying to sell them something and they hang up on us. The ones who don’t love it though and that makes it all worth it.
