Better than death

Ok, well today was MUCH better at work. I just hope that it will stay this way. The tech queue has been bouncing off of 0 all night and it has been really mellow. In a way, I regret my last post, but it was how I was feeling at the time and how I still feel on some of the issues.

In other news, I am convinced that my dog is going to DIE of some horrible disease that she keeps coughing and sneezing from and won’t eat or drink very much! We will see how it goes.

So, I got a dog today and her name is “Princess.” I hate the name, but she is 2 and is already used to it! Here she is:

Updating the universe for the future

I feel like all I have been doing lately is updating stuff. I have updated the WordPress install on this site and all of my friend’s sites that are hosted on this box (a total of 4) which took a little time and caution, as well as finally getting a couple of minutes to put together the screenshots for Windows Vista dial up connections.

When I volunteered to do the screenshots for Vista for Sonic.net, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. You need to setup a good workflow, or else it will never work for you. That has been where I have been stumbling. Finally, tonight, I was able to get a good workflow going and also have some time (in a quiet environment) to get it done. I am sure that I am going to catch hell for doing it while I was off the clock, but I was never going to finish it in time otherwise.

In addition, I think that the new version of WordPress is pretty cool. It has automatic saving of posts as you type so you will not lose anything (this will be good for Kohl, because he had a knack for writing a long post and then having it disappear on him). It also has some improvements to the SQL backend that should make it a little “snappier” on loading. I have so many plugins for my site that no matter what, it is going to take a while to load.

Laura finally got with the times and I set her up with her own domain, randommexican.com. Of course, the first night, she fubar’d it. I had to walk her through fixing the changes that she made to the headers to get the site to work correctly again, but all is well now and I think she is happy with the site. It will be a great place for her to bitch about stuff like she has a tendency to do.

randommexican.com

Visit it, it is Laura’s new site! It is still a bit under construction at this point, but it would be good to give her some feedback as time goes on.
